Description

Upgrade: To install the following on the Philips 7TAchieva scanner that is sited at the SPMMRC at the University of Nottingham (installed in 2005, based on a 90 cm-bore, passively-shielded 7T magnet):
8 channel 1H RF transmit capability with 2 kW peak power/channel with 16 receive channels
Independent control of arbitrary amplitude and phase of each channel
8ch TX, 16ch RX head coil for use with this system capable of providing at least 20 uT peak B1. Spatial coverage provided by the transmit and receive coils should be described.
To retain existing multinuclear (single-channel 4kW transmit, 4 channels receive) capability
To provide and install all cabling from RF amplifiers and Receiver equipment via connectors and interfaces to coils. To provide suitable cable management system either via existing bed unit or separate carrier.
The new system must retain existing 2-channel 1H RF transmit capability with 4kW broadband amplifiers per channel at 32 receive channels capability on this system with no reduction in performance (as measured by mutually agreed tests prior to installation).
