Geothermal energy Prenzlau - Building construction Geothermal heating centre
Stadtwerke Prenzlau plans to reactivate the use of geothermal energy for district heating. In 2025, an injection well was upgraded for the implementation of the project and a production well was graded. The plant will be built at two locations. The site at the production bore with bore head cover and the heating centre with heat exchangers and heat pumps is located at Thomas-Müntzer-Platz 4, 17291 Prenzlau. The second site at the injection well with bore head cover and filter building is located at Am Krankenhaus Street, 17291 Prenzlau. Both locations are accessible via paved roads. The scope of services includes the process engineering and electrotechnical design of the geothermal plant and thermal waterway. The main sites of the system are the drilling basement and heating centre at the drilling site Gt Prenzlau 4 (Thomas-Müntzer-Platz 4) and the filter house and the drilling basement at Gt Prenzlau 3/89 (At the hospital), connected by a thermal waterway. The aim of the project is to provide heat via a heat pump system using the geothermal energy of the subsoil.
