Description

Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet) currently uses several analytical instruments to support education and research activities. To strengthen its laboratory infrastructure and simplify access to advanced material characterisation tools, OsloMet intends to procure a new benchtop X-ray Diffraction (XRD) system. The University plans to enter into a contract with Malvern Panalytical B.V. for the procurement, installation, training and warranty of the XRD system, with an estimated net cost of NOK 738,000. The characteristics that must be covered by the XRD system are described in the annex. We are not aware that other suppliers fulfil these requirements. If there are other suppliers who satisfy these requirements, we would like feedback on this as soon as possible. The contract will not be signed until 10 days at the earliest after publication of this notice. Annex • Excellent resolution and linearity, both below 0.04° • Lifelong positional accuracy provided by Direct Optical Positioning Sensing (DOPS3) • Include silicon standard to verify performance of instrument • High intensity data leading to high reproducibility and low limit of detection • Low power system leading to energy saving and long lifetime of the X-rays tube • Include various optics for data collection at low angle, suitable for hydrated and carbonated cement as well as clays samples. • No need of external water-cooling system or compressed air supply (fully integrated one-block system) • Internal computer, no need of external computer, save space and money • Build in touchscreen and intuitive modern software: reduce training time and maximise utilisation by students • External sample loading: no need to access the optical path, extra X-rays safety for users, high-tech expensive components are protected from inexperienced users and dust. • Access to a wide range of sample holders, including the newly patented low-angle sample holder (Patent No.: US 12.405.234 B2) for low angle performance, side-loading sample holder to minimise preferential orientation, various air sensitive holders to minimise carbonation/hydration/dehydration of cement, special holder for oriented aggregates to perform clay identification • Training provided by cement XRD experts • With the 1Der detector: o Suppression of fluorescence thanks to the best energy resolution on the market o Charge sharing suppression • Main factory in Europe • Has a local contact support in Norway
