Description

The aim of the DSTW IHB Mainz project is to replace the existing obsolete interlocking variance with the new uniform digital interlocking technology by December 2028. A uniform interlocking technology reduces the technical diversity and the maintenance effort decreases. In addition, the new technology is intended to create the basis for centralized operations management with a control center in Mainz. In the field of control and safety technology (LST), it was decided to further develop the LST in accordance with the requirements of digitalization. In order to replace today's old technology in the LST with the next generation of interlockings, the development and approval of corresponding products by the industry takes place within the framework of reference implementations and pre-series projects. At the same time, the modernisation of the LST will create the conditions for equipping it with the European Train Control System (ETCS). 6 interlockings (Budenheim, Mainz Hbf, Mainz-Weisenau Gbf, Mainz-Gustavsburg, Mainz Bischofsheim, Nauheim) are affected by the new construction.
