Description

Medical consumables. The Dorset Cancer Centre, based at Poole Hospital, has an established low dose rate Iodine-125 Seed Prostate Brachytherapy Service, serving the whole of the Dorset Cancer Network catchment population.
Currently ~65 to 70 patients are treated each year but it is likely that the numbers of patients treated will increase year by year.
Treatment is currently given in two stages, i.e. the volume study followed at a later date by the implant using pre-loaded needles.
The Dorset Cancer Centre is looking for a manufacturer to provide radioactive seeds and all associated equipment that will be required to deliver the service using a new intraoperative one-stop (i.e. single visit) technique.
The successful contractor will provide this service to the Trust for an initial period of three years after which the Trust may choose, in agreement with the Contractor, opt to extend the contract for a further period of up to 2 x 12 months.
The Trust would also be interested in any supplier who can offer these goods and services as a contracted out managed service.
