Description

The Luther Memorials Foundation in Saxony-Anhalt is renovating the Luther House in the city of Wittenberg. The project is financed by the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) with federal funding, as well as by the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Culture of the State of Saxony-Anhalt. The refurbishment measure aims at energy-efficient refurbishment and the improvement of tourism development. The Wittenberg Lutherhaus houses the world's largest museum of Reformation history with extensive collections of pictures, writings and exhibits of the Reformation period as well as testimonies of the reception history of Martin Luther and the Reformation. In connection with the energy-efficient renovation and tourist development, the permanent exhibition will be redesigned and the exhibition rooms redesigned. This includes the entrance area for visitors to the Lutherhaus. This area of entry is the ‘competitive territory’. For the entrance area, the Luther Memorials Foundation in Saxony-Anhalt is sponsoring a competition for the realisation of art in construction. The purpose of the competition Kunst am Bau is a fair finding of the best solution for a contemporary artistic project in the entrance hall of the newly designed Museum Lutherhaus. The implementation of the artistic project in the Lutherhaus can take place according to the construction schedule in the second quarter of 2027 and is to be completed by June 30, 2027. The competition follows the guidelines of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction. (See: Binding specifications on art in construction, building policy and building culture projects and standards for federal construction, Stand 07/2024 – BMWSB, BI5-71017/16#3) and is based on the guideline for planning competitions (RPW 2013).
