SAP-AMS banking applications (S/4HANA, BW/4HANA and others)
As the central bank of Germany, the Deutsche Bundesbank (hereinafter ‘the Bundesbank’) is part of the European System of Central Banks and is part of the public administration. Its tasks are the supply of cash to the economy and banks, the management of foreign reserves, refinancing and clearing for credit institutions, as well as the definition and implementation of measures to ensure price stability. At the Bundesbank, numerous business processes are supported by SAP-based applications. This applies to business-relevant areas (controlling, accounting, administration, personnel, procurement, construction management) and business processes from the core business area of cash management as well as their interfaces to (non-)SAP systems. The IT division provides innovative, future-proof and secure IT solutions for the above-mentioned topics and acts on a partnership level with the relevant departments of the Bundesbank. As one of the main groups of the IT 3 department (IT platform management third-party products), IT 32 specializes in applications and tasks in the context of banking operations. In this way, the IT main group provides 32 solutions for various departments of the Bundesbank. In the context of the future SAP orientation, the Hannelore project (S/4HANA: Evaluation of the product portfolio and implementation options at the Bundesbank). The Hannelore project is currently in the implementation phase. Completion of the build phase is scheduled for Q4/2025. Extensive tests will take place in 2026, the go-live is planned for 01.02.2027. Simultaneously with Hannelore's go-live, the application operation for the new SAP S/4HANA platform will start parallel to the hypercare phase in the Hannelore project. Due to the currently existing external factors (demographic change, new technologies such as cloud, legal requirements, increasing requirements from the field of IT security, increasing speed in the various developments on the market) as well as internal factors (including high resource retention through project business, change processes within IT and throughout the Bundesbank), the Bundesbank intends to outsource parts of SAP application operations, which are currently responsible for the main group IT 32, to an external partner as part of an application management service (AMS). This affects the application of the core system (KS) SAP S/4HANA, parts of the reporting platform SAP BW/4HANA, Fiori activities for the application SAP H4S4, the application integration based on SAP Process Orchestration (PO) and the application SAP Solution Manager Focused Build including possible successor products/technologies.
