Description

Strokestown Park is an exceptional heritage property cherished by the public. The surrounding one hundred acres of great natural heritage is currently underdeveloped but offers huge potential to link nature and biodiversity with its built cultural heritage in imaginative and accessible ways. Our mission is to widely share Strokestown Park’s natural heritage, biodiversity and its parkland, including its woodlands, walled gardens and meadows and in so doing facilitating our next stage of development, which is to raise aspirations for our natural heritage and biodiversity by developing new and engaging ways to access and explore this natural terrain. This will be achieved by developing external learning Zones, building a holistic Woodland Pavillion and creating a natural heritage rich woodland eco-path. In addition, we will seek to restore the original connection between the town of Strokestown and the Park. By opening up the vista to Strokestown Park we will enhance and deepen the connection between park and town and further integrate the local community with the parklands. By balancing access in this way, to both our built cultural heritage and our natural heritage, we will ensure all areas of Strokestown Park are inviting, captivating and accessible to the widest possible range of audiences; ensuring more innovative visitor experiences, attracting greater numbers of visitors coming to the locality and generating significant, and sustained, economic impacts on the local and regional economy. Strokestown Park's natural heritage is dynamic - it is alive. By developing and sharing this with the public we will not only attract a broad range of new and diverse audiences, we will also have a positive and demonstrably long-term economic impact on the region.
