The project "Electrification and expansion of Aschaffenburg - Miltenberg" is to be implemented as part of the Bavarian Electric Mobility Strategy for Rail (BESS). The line is to be electrified, double-tracked in sections, extended by a crossing station Sulzbach am Main and the speed partially increased. The aim is to increase the capacity and flexibility of the route in such a way that the introduction of a conflict-free half-hourly clock is made possible. The electrification and expansion of the Aschaffenburg-Miltenberg railway line is intended to implement various measures to decarbonise, increase capacity and accelerate, thereby making local rail passenger transport (SPNV) more attractive.
