Description

As in the previous Management Agreement (2021-2025) with the Flemish government, the next Management Agreement (2026-2030) also pays attention to the diversity policy of the VRT. In the past, the VRT worked with targets regarding the presence of women, people with disabilities and New Flemings on VRT television. It is expected that such targets will also be imposed in the next Management Agreement. The BHO 2021-2025 set out the following performance measures in terms of diversity: KPI 10. The VRT strives for diversity in imaging in the entire internally and externally produced video range, with the exception of program purchase (where diversity is also a point of attention): - Gender: from 40% women to 48% by 2025, - Origin: from 7.5% of persons with foreign origin17 to 9.5% in 2025, - Disability: from 1.5% to 2% by 2025. VRT has been monitoring the diversity of its screen actors on a regular basis since 2004. This research was first carried out by the VRT Study Service itself and since 2007 it has been outsourced to an external partner. The methodology has been adapted several times over the years in function of changing needs and legal provisions. The last major change was made in 2012 when the methodology was adapted to the then new management agreement. At the end of 2012, an agreement was concluded for an annual measurement from 2013 until the end of the management agreement then in force. For the period of the current Management Agreement (2021-2025), another agreement was concluded. This agreement expires at the end of this year. This contract proposes a new contract that runs for one year (2026) and can then be optionally extended up to 4 times for one year, with a maximum of 5 years spread over the duration of the management contract until 2030.
