The Federal Water Engineering Agency (BAW) carries out this procurement procedure on behalf of the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE). The subject of this invitation to tender is the planning, construction and operational supply of a fishery research vessel/replacement of Walther Herwig III.
Like the current Walther Herwig III, the replacement construction of Walther Herwig III is to be made available to the Thünen Institute for use in order to carry out research trips in the unrestricted driving area. The new oceanic, multidisciplinary fisheries research vessel will be innovative, economical, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. At the same time, a particularly low vibration, silent and hydro-acoustic quiet ship with very good seagoing and manoeuvrability is expected to be present and on board. The fisheries research vessel will have extensive scientific, nautical and fisheries research equipment and systems to collect and process marine measurement data.
