Com a requalificação deste troço da EN1/IC2 pretende-se uma melhoria das condições de circulação e de segurança rodoviária, numa infraestrutura relevante para a zona, de modo a diminuir a sinistralidade que se tem vindo a registar nesta estrada, intervindo-se ao nível da reformulação das intersecções, pavimento, drenagem, sinalização e equipamentos de segurança, iluminação e integração paisagística, tratamento de travessias urbanas, nomeadamente na implementação de medidas de acalmia de tráfego e passagens de peões e reposição de serviços afetados.
