D-Rostock: architectural services for buildings
Restricted planning competition with a pre-apply/selection stage.
Competition for a multi-storey residential complex.
In Rostock, town centre in the Petriviertel.
The city of Rostock, together with the firm ‘Wohnanlagen Petriviertel GmbH & Co.KG’ as developer, has launched a planning competition in connection with the exemplary development of the new urban neighbourhood ‘Petriviertel’.
The promoter of the competition is the Hanseatic City of Rostock, represented by Rostocker Gesellschaft für Stadterneuerung, Urban Development and Wohnungsbau mbH (RGS), the representative of the Hanseatic City of Rostock.
The developer and planning manager is the firm ‘Wohnanlagen Petriviertel GmbH & Co.KG’ as a private investor.
The eligibility criteria include proof that, as natural or legal persons, they are entitled to use the professional title of architect and that they can have references appropriate to the content of the contest.
The competition is motivated by the finding of an optimal and high-quality structural solution for a compressed residential quarter. The aim is to provide a modern, energy-efficient and environmentally exemplary construction for the construction of owner-occupied and rented housing. A planning adapted to current housing needs is intended to create an attractive housing position for Rostock in an urban area to be developed, which develops directly between the edge of the historic Rostock Old Town and the unbuilt riparian area of the Unbuilt Lower Warnow.
The competitive performance consists of the large-scale planning of a multi-storey new building complex as a three-sided closed building block, including the planning of private open spaces. This is a desired minimum net floor area of 9 100 m². The site is located in a newly developed urban neighbourhood. It is based on a legally valid building plan and a design manual.
