Description

The district of Oberallgäu intends to draw up a comprehensive integrated climate protection plan for the district itself and the municipalities listed below, in order to a) identify and implement the potential for reducing emissions within the district and (b) to speed up the climate protection process in the municipalities and the (larger) companies. Through the conceptual development of measures in the direct sphere of influence of the rural district, the rural district performs its role as an example. At the mayoral service meeting, the invitation was presented to the mayors of the municipalities and asked them to bring the issue of climate change mitigation to the municipal councils. In addition, a climate change meeting was held at the Landratsamt (Landratsamt) on 15 April 2010 to further motivate the municipalities. The district offered the municipalities an application for support and coordinate the preparation of the integrated climate protection plans for the participating municipalities. The funding application was submitted to the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (project promoter Jülich) on 19 January 2011. As at 24 February 2011, the grant decision is available and has an eligible amount of EUR 351335. The district’s own contribution, towns and municipalities is EUR 122967. The district of Oberallgäu received support from the Energie-& Umweltzentrum Allgäu non-profit GmbH in preparing the aid application.
Through the formation of climate change mitigation teams from the participating cities and municipalities and the rural district climate protection team, the design process and the subsequent implementation process will be promoted with the participation of the municipalities in a participatory manner, with continuous public participation. The climate change mitigation plans are to be completed within a maximum of 12 months and then provide for a rapid transition to the implementation phase. The rural district of Oberallgäu, the city of Sonthofen and the following municipalities participate in the climate protection plan: Market Altusried, Blaichach, Markt Buchenberg, Durach, Fischen im Allgäu, Haldenwang, Markt Bad Hindelang, Markt Oberstaufen, Oy-Mittelberg, Markt Sulzberg, Markt Wiggensbach, Wildpoldsried.
