United Kingdom-Nottingham: Education and training services
The service will work with 40 targeted schools over a period of 2 years. Key activities of the service will include training staff in teaching nutrition, cooking and food-growing skills; ensuring that pupils learn about the origins of food through innovative methods; and increasing parent and community engagement in food-related school activities. The service will work with targeted schools to improve their school meals through the use of healthier and more sustainable ingredients (including locally sourced) and increase their consumption of healthier meals; and establish and embed a network of stakeholders so that improved standards in school food can continue and be further rolled out after the end of the intervention. The service will ensure that all participating schools work towards the nationally accredited Soil Association's Catering Marks.
