The "ZISSAU Phase 2" project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, has set itself the goal of developing sustainable and innovative barn construction concepts for both conversions and new constructions in sow husbandry and for rearing piglets. According to the definition of basic requirements that these stable systems should meet, a structural implementation in the sow keeping of the Experimental and Educational Centre Agriculture Haus Düsse is planned for testing and further development of various variants. The developed stable construction concepts are based on the political considerations for increasing animal welfare aspects and are intended to serve as an exemplary example of how the criteria can be implemented in the future for the areas of deck centre, waiting area and farrowing area.
