Description

The Nordland Hospital currently has one MALDI-TOF instrument (from the User). Reasons for direct procurements: MALDI-TOF provides quick and precise answers of high quality with minimal operational costs. Access to alternative identification cannot be maintained as regards competence, instrumentation and consumables. This gives high vulnerability in the event of operational stoppages. With two instruments, the instruments can relieve each other pending service and repair (back-up). It is not appropriate to procure a completely different type of instrument as this will result in a lot of extra work as regards the implementation, integration (interface) with the laboratory system, new contracts on instrument/consumables and operation. There will be unnecessary logistics and additional work with two different systems in operation.
