Germany-Munich: Engineering design services for mechanical and electrical installations for buildings
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has become one of the most important, development-intensive faculties of TUM in a few years. One of its specific strengths is the combination of basic and applied research. This is supported by third party research organisations such as General Electrics, Siemens, IBM, etc. The focus is on networking with other faculties and research institutions. In order to give space to this positive development pressure, the faculty will be moved from the main site in Munich to the Science Campus in Garching. To this end, it is planned to construct the entire faculty in three construction stages on a site of the West Campus, defined by means of an urban plan.
.
An architect’s competition is currently ongoing with the realisation of the first phase of the works, as well as in the ideas part of the definition of the second and third phases, as well as a car park.
.
This procedure involves the construction of the first stage of the technically intensive construction, as well as a car park.
.
Part of this procedure is the construction of the first phase of the faculty, the most intensive technical area of the faculty. It houses a total of 7.034 m² of NF teaching, exercise and reading rooms, offices and premises, experimental work and laboratory rooms, and the central connection to the electrical infrastructure.
The first phase offers the highest technical ambition of the faculty. Planning should therefore take into account different heights of space, such as: Laboratory areas generally intended to be installed with a clear height of at least 4.5 m and special laboratories with requirements for clear heights (up to 8 m). Various laboratories with ISO Class 5-9 cleanroom requirements. Various individual rooms have special demands, such as high-voltage halls with a clear height of 20 m and the portal crane to be integrated, experimental halls with varying requirements for clear heights (up to 7 m) and floor loads for navigability. In addition, the roof surfaces should be designed in such a way that technical installations such as experimental structures, photovoltaics, etc. are possible. The specific features include the G 6 Characterisation Laboratory, in which only small vibrations may occur through individual foundations. It should also be noted that the two workshops are equipped with particularly heavy equipment and corresponding torques and that the low-flexion room (BA3) must be designed for minimal vibrations, as is the G6 laboratory. A temperature-stable building design shall be planned for the building structure.
After completion of the first phase, the further extension of the faculty with a second and third phase is foreseen, provided that the budget is made available.
.
The second phase includes cross-sectional spaces such as various hearing rooms (max. 1000 places), a sub-library, cafeteria and other requirements, and the third phase will include office, technical and laboratory rooms.
The new construction includes the following functional areas:
— Listening room
— Seminar rooms
— Traineeships Rooms
— Test hall
— Laboratories S1/2
— Cleanrooms ISO 5-8
.
The following priority tasks are foreseen for the construction of new buildings:
— Design of waste water, water, gas installations
— Planning of heating and cooling systems
— Design of the aeronautical installations
— Planning of use-specific installations
— Building automation planning
.
The maximum cost of the research building is EUR 41 million gross total construction costs. These costs include cost group 200 to 600 according to DIN 276.
The service starts with the planning and construction of a budget document (HU) construction for new construction. The EnEV in force at the time of planning must be observed.
The construction costs of technical machinery shall not exceed EUR 8.85 million gross. These costs include cost groups 410, 420, 430, 470, 480 and 540 according to DIN 276-1: 2008-12 (in each case including VAT).
KGR 410: EUR 500.000 (gross)
KGR 420: EUR 1.400.000 (gross)
KGR 430: EUR 2.800.000 (gross)
KGR 470: EUR 2.300.000 (gross)
KGR 480: EUR 1.350.000 (gross)
KGR 540: EUR 500.000 (gross)
.
Dates:
— Drawing up HU-Bau 06/2016 – 03/2017
— Start of construction 06/2018
— Handover: 10/2020
— Site support until 2024
Immediately after the end of the VOF procedure, the provision of services for the 1.BA begins.
This starts with the planning and preparation of a budget document (HU-construction) for the construction of new buildings.
