Description

Heidelberg University Hospital intends to procure a medical one-room proton therapy facility. In order to be able to offer the ideal form of radiation therapy in any case, the Department of Radiooncology and Radiotherapy has a wide range of devices for teletherapy. Different C-arm accelerators, a cyberknife, a tomotherapy device and an MR-linac are used, as well as a system for proton and heavy ion therapy. As part of the renovation of the head clinic, a new building with four radiation protection bunkers is to be built, which serves as a replacement and extension area for areas to be renovated. In order to modernize and adapt the modalities to the treatment needs, a proton therapy system will be installed in addition to three linear accelerators. Here, the increased need for treatment of pediatric patients with protons is taken into account. With the commissioning of the new building for the KiTZ and its importance as a CCC for childhood tumors, the planned compact proton system is of further importance. The Heidelberg University Hospital is a house of maximum care and offers special treatments at the highest level in the field of radiation therapy. Internationally, Heidelberg ranks among the best clinics in the world in this field. Against this background, patients with particularly challenging treatment requests are assigned to the clinic. The choice of the device is thus based on the latest technology and the latest scientific findings. Text automatically translated in your browsing language Automatically translated
