Germany-Tübingen: Architectural and related services

Tübingen University Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Fire Remediation, 72076 Tübingen, Hoppe-Seyler-Strasse 1, architectural services under Part 3, Section 1 HOAI.
The child clinic Tübingen, with a useful area of 8 400 m², was completed in 1998.
The angle-shaped reinforced concrete skeleton construction with wall paving and concrete core area connects to the Crona construction in the west.
The eight floors house nursing and intensive care units, laboratories, classrooms, listening rooms, technical and storage rooms.
The building is connected to the automatic transport of goods in the clinic area and has a small production plant.
The need to rehabilitate fire safety stems from the objections raised by the Building Rights Office regarding the change in the children’s clinic (within subsequent conversion works) and the fire safety report of 2011 with the 2014 update.
Walls and ceilings must be fit for purpose, rescue routes and fire compartments shall be secured, technical installations shall be upgraded to meet fire protection requirements. The partly installed user-side fire detection system must be completed throughout the country.
Other measures include the installation of full sprine clamps, language alarms and the improvement of smoke extraction possibilities in the building.
The work will be carried out when the clinic is on-going; must be adapted to this and to the contracting authority’s budgetary requirements.
Taking into account these boundary conditions, the execution period is planned from 2017 to 2022. Continuous exchanges and intensive communication with all stakeholders throughout the planning and construction period, as well as a strong presence on the ground, are essential.
