The contracting authority, through the financing application for the project âRomanian-Bulgarian Cooperation for Green Fit Danube Systemâ, code ROBG00177, with a view to its implementation, will purchase pontoons by concluding a contract of products on lots for the following locations, as follows: Drobeta Turnu Severin, Gruia, Giurgiu, Chiciu/ Calarasi. The objective is to increase the protection and conservation of protected natural areas in the Bulgarian-Romanian cross-border region by developing a pilot system of monitoring, prevention and response to water pollution caused by navigation on the Danube River. The project responds to the needs of the population and partners to improve control on the inland waterways of Romania and Bulgaria and will contribute to improving cooperation for environmental protection. According to the Territorial Analysis, protected areas and urban areas are particularly affected by pollution. Insufficient monitoring of the infrastructure prevents the tracking of air and water quality parameters, which ultimately leads to the lack of effective management solutions. Thus, there is a need to implement additional activities to improve the quality of biodiversity and to eliminate/reduce pollution and its effects on the environment. The cross-border area has many protected natural areas, such as the Natura 2000 and Ramsar sites. The implementation of the project will provide an opportunity to reduce all types of pollution by supporting investments in monitoring and collecting data on air, soil and water pollution. The implementation of the intervention procedures of this project, the infrastructure and the equipment purchased will improve the monitoring, prevention and immediate response in case of pollution by discharge from ships, limiting the effects of pollution on protected natural areas. The project aims to monitor, prevent and immediately respond to pollution caused by shipping activity on the general Romanian-Bulgarian section of the Danube River. The main objectives that the NRA intends to achieve through this project are the following: - Reaction to pollution through the discharge of oil products and hazardous and noxious substances as a result of shipping activity. Such disastrous events usually lead to contamination and pollution in port areas and are particularly dangerous in areas of water abstraction and preparation as a source of water supply for large groups of citizens. Such undesirable events cause major damage to the flora and fauna of the Danube region. - Emergency response in the transport of dangerous goods - Fire response on board a ship - this emergency can lead to human casualties and oil spills. - Reaction in cases of transboundary pollution - usually occurring in major accidents in the vicinity - Reaction in cases of naval accidents - in rescue actions Text automatically translated in your browsing language Automatically translated
