Museum Thy står overfor en omfattende renovering, hvor bygningerne beliggende Jernbanegade 11-15, 7700 Thisted skal renoveres, ligesom der skal indrettes helt nye udstillinger om Thy's kulturhistorie. Projektet er benævnt "Nyt Thisted Museum". Museum Thy har modtaget en fondsdonation til realisering af projektet. Budgettet for håndværkerudgifterne er ca. 11,3 mio. DKK og budgettet for udstillingerne mv. er ca. 12,2 mio. DKK ekskl. moms.
