Description

The main station of Groningen is the busiest public transport node in the north of the Netherlands. Almost all public transport journeys to and from various destinations in the city, region and even nationwide start, end or pass here. The station is currently undergoing a major metamorphosis in which platforms and tracks are being adapted, a new pedestrian and cyclist tunnel is being constructed and a new station entrance is being realized on the south side. The Groningen Spoorzone project ensures that the Hoofdstation is ready for the future On the south side of the station, the existing buildings were demolished a few years ago to make way for the new Spoorkwartier district. This district will present itself as a green and sustainable urban district with a mixed program of living, working and relaxing. The heart of the Spoorkwartier is formed by the Zuidplein, which connects the south entrance of the Main Station, the Parkweg and the Rivierenbuurt. This square will form a new connection for cyclists and pedestrians between the station and the city center on the one hand, and the Parkweg, Rivierenbuurt and the Stadspark on the other. In mid-2026, the current contractor of the Main Station will provide the station tunnel for pedestrians and cyclists, the bicycle shed and the south facade of the station. Immediately afterwards, the municipality wants to use the public space between the station and the Parkweg. This space must not only efficiently handle traffic flows, but also meet the ambitious standard that fits the new station and future developments in the Spoorkwartier. At that time, it is not yet known what the other parts of the Spoorkwartier will look like. The connection to the building volumes to be developed will come at a later stage, but will already have to be thought through. The first sketches of the square and the (temporary) layout of this space have now been made. These sketches will be further elaborated in the coming period. The most important technical tasks are for the time being; a. Bridging height difference of approx. NAP+1m (Parkweg side) to NAP-3m (stations side); b. Creating an artificial polder for the square, focus: collecting and disposing of rainwater c. Interface between civil construction square (including water management) and future buildings to be developed around the square; d. Connect to the (temporary) sheet piles of Hoofdstation and then remove them; e. Construction/relocation of sewer (siphon) rainwater drainage Main Station, from east to west in the Zuidplein. With a market consultation, the municipality of Groningen wants to gather knowledge from the market in order to arrive at a substantiated choice for a contract and tender form. First, the context of the project is outlined and there is room to ask questions. Afterwards, a number of questions will be asked to the interested parties who can answer them in writing. This market consultation will take place digitally on Wednesday 4 June from 2.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Interested parties can register for the meeting via the TenderNed message module. Participants will then receive an invitation via MS Teams. c.a. 30-40 million Text automatically translated in your browsing language Automatically translated
