81316543-PM&E, fortalecimiento del sector educativo y desarrollo organizacional para PreViMujer III en Ecuador Text automatically translated in your browsing language Automatically translated
Violence against women is one of the main obstacles to the full enjoyment of women's human rights. Ecuador has ratified the Convention against All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and the Inter-American Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Violence against Women (Belém do Pará Convention) and is committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At national level, women and girls in particular are guaranteed a life free from violence. This is apparent from the 2008 Constitution (Articles 35 and 66), the 2014 Criminal Code (Articles 141 and 155) and (3) the Organic Law on the Prevention and Elimination of Violence against Women (LOIV) of 2018. However, the implementation of effective measures by state and non-state actors focused on preventing violence against women remains a challenge. The project Prevention of Violence against Women III (PreViMujer III) supports the implementation of the LOIV and its regulation in the field of prevention of violence against women. To achieve this, capacities will be developed and knowledge and methodological tools will be shared with various public and civil society actors to implement innovative and sustainable measures to prevent violence against women. The aim of the project is to support state and non-state actors at the central level and in two provinces of Ecuador to introduce regulations for the prevention of violence against women. The project builds on the achievements of PreViMujer I and II. The previous projects established contacts with key social actors, gained valuable experience in the development, application and dissemination of methods and evidence, strengthened capacities and systematised knowledge. In particular, the experience gained from training and awareness-raising programmes for civil servants, a systemic prevention model for businesses and universities, and learning methods for children and young people developed for this project will be further exploited and disseminated. The target group is women in all their diversity and throughout their life cycle. In addition, the project is aimed at men, children and adolescents who play an important role in the prevention of gender-based violence. The lead agency is the Ministry of Women and Human Rights (MMDH), which is responsible for the implementation of the LOIV and for the coordination and networking of state actors of the National System for the Prevention and Elimination of Violence against Women (SNPEVM) at both central and decentralised level.
