Laboratory-scale biogas test reactors
One of the focus areas of research, development and innovation (RDI) at Novia University of Applied Sciences is sustainable energy technology. Novia participates actively in different biogas projects as well as collaboration with biogas actors. Novia aims to be at the forefront of applied biogas RDI by having modern anaerobic digestion laboratory equipment. For this purpose, Novia will procure laboratory-scale anaerobic digesters with the necessary equipment for precise process control, gas quality and gas flow. Continuous operation with feeding and emptying is vital. The equipment has to consist of 3 separate reactors with separate sampling ports and gas flow measurements for statistical validation of results. Ease of operation is seen as an advantage. The biogas unit is expected to be delivered as a turn-key solution with components proven to work together, as robust operation and scientific relevance have to be guaranteed. Training in the equipment must be done on-site in Vasa, Finland. This investment is co-funded by the European Union under grant number J11163 and as such has to comply with applicable regulations and restrictions.
