Description

SCK CEN intends to acquire transport packaging for highly radioactive materials and waste. These packagings will be used both for transfers between buildings on the SCK CEN site and for transport on public roads. The contents to be transported shall include solids and liquids. Solid and liquid forms shall not be mixed in the same content; they will be the subject of separate content. The contents require type B packaging in accordance with IAEA recommendations for transport on public roads. Specific rules apply to transport within the SCK CEN site (these rules will be attached to the product specification in the second phase). The contents will be described in detail in the technical purchase specifications, as will the various buildings in which the packaging will be handled, loaded and unloaded. Fissile content, as defined by the IAEA, is not included in the scope of this contract. The content is divided into several categories: • Highly radioactive acidic liquids, with packages with a volume of approximately 1 m ³ • Vitrified containers requiring approximately 6 cm of lead shielding, with packages with a cavity of approximately 45 cm in diameter and 140 cm in height • Highly radioactive waste packaged in 200-litre or 400-litre drums The supply includes: • Packaging suitable for transport on site and on public roads • For packaging intended for transport on public roads: Package Design Safety Reports (PDSR) and Type B approval • Packaging-specific accessories, such as stowage devices for standard road vehicles • Operational documents: Instructions for use, maintenance instructions, … • All documents must be provided in English The delivery time for packaging is 2.5 calendar years from the date of the order.
