Description

Processed fruit and vegetables. South Lanarkshire Council as lead authority invites offers from suitably qualified contractors for the supply, delivery and onward distribution of Fruit, vegetables and related products for use by the catering services but not limited to for both South Lanarkshire Council and North Lanarkshire Council.
The estimated value of the Fruit and Vegetables and Related Products (Fresh and per-prepared) contract is approximately £700,000.00 annually for both Councils and it will run from 1 August 2014 to 31 July 2015 and may, at the sole discretion of both Councils, be extended for a further period of up to twelve months subject to the availability of funding and suitable performance.
Approximately 390 locations across both Council areas will purchase from the contract at varying frequencies, most commonly once or twice weekly. A large proportion of the locations using this contract will be school kitchens, which operate only 40 weeks a year.
In conjunction with this tender process both Councils wish to explore options for delivering other foods along with fruit and vegetables. Initially this will involve working with the successful contractor to develop the delivery of bread and associated baked products currently supplied and delivered separately. Specific details of South Lanarkshire Council's requirements are provided and tenderers are requested to submit prices for the delivery of bread and associated baked products from receipt to the fulfillment of orders, including storage, distribution and billing at the point of delivering the fruit and vegetables. The prices submitted will be used for information only and will not be scored. Both Councils reserve the right to enter into a pilot arrangement for the delivery of bread and associated baked products with the successful tenderer under this tender.. The Councils will agree with the successful tenderer a pilot period to allow them to explore and evaluate this option further and shall have the option at the end of such agreed period either to extend the arrangement to the end date of this contract or to obtain the delivery of bread from elsewhere.
