Consultation on requirements specification for technical and biological feasibility study prior to the provision of advisory services to Kolindsund
Kolindsund is a 2,500-hectare reclaimed area in the middle of Djursland. The area extends over a 17 km long valley between Kolind in the west and Grenaa in the east, and the area spreads across the municipalities of Syddjur and Norddjur. The survey area for the feasibility study is approximately 3,600 ha. Kolindsund was originally a Stone Age sea, which later became a closed freshwater lake. Until 1872 Kolindsund was Denmark's largest lake. The tender includes a feasibility study on the restoration of Kolindsund. Technical and biological advice and assistance are required. It has been politically decided that the Danish Nature Agency – with funding from the Novo Nordisk Foundation, the Nordea Foundation and the Danish Nature Fund – will prepare a feasibility study examining the possibility of re-establishing Kolindsund as a cohesive natural area. The feasibility study must provide a solid and professionally based basis for a political decision on a possible re-establishment of Kolindsund and must shed light on the affected landowners' attitude to such a project. The feasibility study must be conducted with a focus on high professionalism, interdisciplinarity and involvement of relevant stakeholders and landowners, so that different perspectives and interests together contribute to qualifying the further work with the future development opportunities for Kolindsund. The studies will cover, among other things, opportunities for improved biodiversity, reduction of nutrient emissions to the Kattegat, reduction of climate gases as well as synergies with climate adaptation in Grenå and surrounding areas. The task also includes a property feasibility study.
