An industry dialogue and market exploration has/have shown that no high-performance gigabit infrastructure with a range of corresponding telecommunications services is currently available nationwide in the local authority in accordance with the objectives of the gigabit framework 2.0 and will be available in the coming years. The local authority has therefore applied for funding for a nationwide gigabit expansion in the economic gap model under the directive "Support for the gigabit expansion of telecommunications networks in the Federal Republic of Germany - Gigabit Directive of the Federal Government 2.0 (Gigabit Directive 2.0)" of 31 March 2023 in the version of the 1st amendment of 30.04.2024 ("Gigabit Directive 2.0") and received the decision on the final amount of the grant. The funding provided in this funding programme in the profitability gap model (hereinafter: Funding) will be channelled by local authorities to telecommunications companies in the sense of EU state aid law as investment aid for the construction and operation of gigabit networks.
