Description

Today, Swissgrid operates a Swiss-wide telecommunication network Grid Control Network (GCN), which ensures the secure exchange of information between the substations, the SGC (Swissgrid Control Center in Aarau and Prilly), the Swissgrid data centers and partner RUs. Today's GCN is in the last third of its life cycle, which is ensured by the end of 2030. In order to ensure the secure operation of Swissgrid's telecommunications services in the future and to ensure reliable voice and data communication, a replacement of the existing GCN is required. The future design will take into account both new requirements – such as increased bandwidth requirements or additional services – and modern technologies. The implementation of such an extensive project as GCN 2.0 requires sufficient human resources as well as detailed and up-to-date technology and market know-how for a successful execution. External project support will be provided to support the internal specialists.
