B-Ghent: Analytical or scientific software package
The Pathological Anatomy Service of the University Hospital of Ghent (UZ Ghent) wishes to purchase a software package of the type ‘Laboratory Information Management System’ (LIMS).
The proposed system should provide sufficient guarantees in terms of flexibility and openness so that it can grow, depending on future specific needs specific to a university institution such as the UZ Ghent. Data security and integrity are also important aspects. The software package must be adaptable to certain essential needs and practices of the UZ Ghent, whether or not by customisation.
The following general expectations are set for the product:
— very user-friendly;
— multi-user (all users simultaneously);
— separate testing and production environment (necessary licenses to be provided!);
— uniform structure for all modules;
— granting authorisations per user or group;
— modular extendable;
— preferably available online helpfunction;
— all end-user screens and reports in Dutch;
— sufficient flexibility: parameters per user or group configurable;
— ‘logging’ of all ‘transactions’ in a history file (what changed? by whom? when?);
— extensive reporting tools, on the one hand, with standard reports and, on the other hand, with own reports (qualitative and quantitative reports, charts, statistical reports).
The tenderer must provide a solution for the central and automatic version management of the application software at the workstations (if applicable). This solution should be described in detail. In the case of a ‘client/server’ architecture, a mechanism should be in place whereby software updates from the client can be triggered and executed automatically (preferably at the start of the application), without manual intervention by the user or ICT staff, even if this requires management rights. Account should be taken of the fact that, by default, notified users have no rights to install software on their PC.
