Die Fachhochschule Aachen beabsichtigt, für das Wasserbaulabor eine multifunktionale, wasserbauliche Versuchsrinne zu beschaffen. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine Metallkonstruktion /Metallbau mit Rinnenmodulen aus Kunststoff. Die aufgeständerte Versuchsrinne soll eine lichte Breite von 1,50 m, eine Höhe von 1,00 m und eine Gesamtlänge von 12 m haben.
