Description

In order to ensure the safety of motorised two-wheelers in particular, a sufficient grip of markings must be ensured. The SRT procedure currently included in the technical regulations is not suitable for structured road markings such as the agglomerate markings often used on federal highways. There is therefore an urgent need for a suitable alternative to the SRT procedure, which allows structured markings to be subjected to a metrological assessment. Also in view of the increasing importance of cycling, a suitable measurement method for red stains, which usually also have a highly structured surface, would be desirable. In other EU countries, potentially suitable devices that use the longitudinal force method with braked slip (LFC measurement method) are already being used for grip measurements on markings. In addition to covering a larger measuring surface than the SRT method, continuous measuring methods offer the advantage that, in addition to macrotexture, microtexture is also included. The aim of this research project is to identify and validate technically suitable methods according to the above measurement principle for the structured markings used in Germany. For the proposed new feature ‘friction coefficient µ of structured markings’, an evaluation background is to be created and own requirements values for assessing grip are to be recommended. In addition, a test instruction for use in practice is to be drawn up. The results are to be fed into the regular revision of EN 1436. It will also discuss the extent to which the procedures can be used in the aptitude test.
