Description

MCCF is the Microscopy and Cytometry Core Facility at Amsterdam UMC – Location VUMC. Our mission is to develop tools and provide access to in cutting edge microscopy and cytometry services to catalyze high-impact (bio)medical research at Amsterdam UMC and VU. To do this, we have a team of service-oriented specialists that make complex technology accessible and affordable to our users. We seek the latest technologies that are appropriate for our user community and continue to provide access to advanced yet widespread technologies. Our primary focus is on two fronts: the characterization of tissue heterogeneity using highly parametric methodologies; and functional (live cell) microscopy approaches. We also provide support in the development of reagents (antibodies) and data analysis solutions (bioinformatics). We strive for excellent research and help our users achieve their goals of publication in high-impact journals and obtaining prestigious grants. We prioritize support for immunological, oncological and neurological sciences; But we are also open to support other disciplines, as long as the technology is appropriate. We work in close collaboration with the immune monitoring unit of the Amsterdam UMC Immunotherapy Center. Within our work in supporting immune monitoring activities for the Immunotherapy Center, we have identified opportunities for expanding our antibody panels beyond 60 parameters and include imaging data in our high-throughput workflow, which is important for the assessment of cell function, differentiation, activation status, and interaction with other cells. To be able to do this, we are looking for a scientific instrument that verified to ALL of the following characteristics: 1. Flow cytometer able to perform spectral unmixing 2. Capable of analyzing cells at high speed (at least 200 ul/min) 3. Able to resolve deep UV dyes and infrared dyes with multiple detectors 4. Able to do high-resolution imaging (camera-based) 5. Able to resolve small particles detection (50 nm) 1
