United Kingdom-Durham: Refuse and waste related services
The Council is seeking tenders for the treatment of approximately 140 kilo tonnes per annum (ktpa) residual municipal waste. The contract is being offered in Lots of 28ktpa, 42ktpa, 70ktpa or 140ktpa. If the most economically advantageous tender is received for Lot 4, any tenders received for Lots 1, 2 and 3 will be abandoned. If the most economically advantageous tenders are received for Lot 1, Lot 2 and Lot 3, any tenders received for Lot 4 will be abandoned. Guaranteed minimum tonnages will be given for each Lot although the Contractor must allow for fluctuations above this minimum figure. No guarantees will be given regarding the waste composition as this may alter depending on the variety of materials collected by the Council.
Residual municipal waste will be delivered directly to the Contractor's delivery point, subject to the Authority's requirements.
The methods used for the treatment and disposal of waste are at the discretion of the Contractor.
The contract will be for an initial period of 8 years with an option available to the Council to extend for up to a further 4 years. Bidders must therefore be able to satisfy the Council that their proposals have the necessary capacity and licences to accommodate the quantity they are bidding for during the contract period.
