Description

The current switches of the OCTOPUS Classic family of Hirschmann are EoL. Currently, models with 16 ports and 24 ports are in use. As a successor, the new switches from various manufacturers have been available for some time now. The new devices support a 1 Gbit/s backbone or higher. The network on the MUTZ fleet is a 100 Mbit/s ring, which is expanded during the project by a 1 Gbit/s ring or higher. Currently, all switches are Layer 2. According to the new network concept, Layer 3 is required for each end car at the end of the network ring on the PLC modem switches. All other switches require Layer 2. Per vehicle, this means: · Mutz 4-piece o Switch Layer 2 with 16 ports à 3 pcs. o Switch Layer 2 with 24 ports à 3 pcs. o Switch Layer 3 with 24 ports à 2 pcs. · Mutz 6-piece (option 1) o Switch Layer 2 with 16 ports of 7 pcs. o Switch Layer 2 with 24 ports of 3 pcs. o Switch Layer 3 with 24 ports of 2 pcs.
