Description

The impact of the activities of the Channel Storage Centre is assessed by systematic and comprehensive monitoring of the different compartments of the environment. The purpose of this surveillance is to detect any abnormal situation or development. It also makes it possible to verify compliance with regulatory requirements relating to environmental protection, in particular those laid down by the decree authorising discharges and the so-called ‘environmental’ decision. Under Decision 2008-DC-0099 on the organisation of the national network for environmental radioactivity measurements (RNM) and laying down the procedures for the approval of laboratories, Andra is required to transfer the radiological measurements resulting from environmental monitoring of its centres to the RNM. This procedure is intended to entrust a service provider with the required approvals with these various radiological analyses and measurements. The candidate must be approved by the ASNR. As such, the candidate’s laboratory must be included in the list of approved laboratories for environmental radioactivity measurements referred to in Articles R. 1333-25 and R. 1333-26 (former Articles R. 1333-11 and R. 1333-11-1) of the Public Health Code. The candidate must be approved for the matrices and categories of measures defined by the following codes: Water matrix (1_01, 1_02, 1_03, 1_04, 1_05, 1_06, 1_07, 1_09, 1_11, 1_12 and 1_13) and soil/sediment matrix (2_01, 2_02, 2_07, 2_09, 2_10 and 2_13).
