PL-Gdansk: environmental protection
The subject-matter of the contract is to carry out active nature protection works on the Bielawskie Błota peatland within the boundaries of the Bielawa reserve, consisting of the removal of heather from an area of 45 hectares and the removal of the harvested biomass out of the reserve. The work is divided into two stages:
(1) stage 1 – heather killing, compressing and removing it out of the reserve in 2012 from 15 ha;
(2) stage 2 – mooring, pressing and leaving the reserve in 2013 out of 30 hectares;
The work must be carried out in September-October 2012 and September-October in 2013, at a.m. 8.00-16.00, i.e. while outside the peatland of the crane taking place on the airfield. The heather will be mechanically erased using specialised equipment – tractor with mowers (rotational or wheeled) suspended from the side of the tractor. The device is designed to ensure that it is mowing at a height of 15-20 cm from the surface of the ground, without damaging the part remaining on the ground and pulling the shrubs with the roots. Irregular panels with a width of more than a dozen metres, separated by unribbed surfaces, will be displayed. The resulting biomass (as soon as it is felled) will be mechanically pressed in blades or cubes and exported outside the peatland. It is the Contractor’s responsibility to remove the felled biomass together with other waste generated in the course of the works, to use it or to uncodress it. The contracting authority will not incur any costs.
