Norway-Oslo: Data storage services
The County Governor in Oslo and Akershus (hereafter called FMOA) is holding an open tender competition for the procurement of a storage system with the accompanying components.
FMOA has a five year old fibre based SAN that consists of a Dell/EMC CX300 with 14 TB disk capacity. 8 TB are currently in use per October 2012. This unit, with disk shelves shall be replaced with a new storage system.
There are four servers and a tape robot that are connected to the current SAN. There is no redundancy in the storage units. FMOA uses DataDomain in cooperation with another government office for remote storage of data. The fibre switches are two Brocade 300, which are one year old. The switches can be reused, but this will not be a requirement from FMOA.
FMOA would like to procure a storage system that sees to the requirements for security, availability and reliability, as well as being cost efficient and easy to administer. In order to achieve this FMOA has described a number of functionality requirements and framework factors, but has left the market to design the technical system. In order to ensure predictability as regards costs FMOA would like this procurement to have a ten year perspective. There will be an option to replace parts of the system if there are parts that reach their "End-of-Life" during the ten year period. This is to ensure that FMOA has low lifetime costs for storage in the next 10 years.
