Description

Energie und Wasser Potsdam GmbH intends to develop the use of geothermal heat in cogeneration and iCHP systems. Three heat pump modules will be operated on the site of the South Power Plant of Energie- und Wasser Potsdam (Zum Heizwerk 20, 14478 Potsdam). Heat from heat pumps is an important contribution to the decarbonisation of the city's heating network. For the housing of the heat pump modules and their peripheral systems, the construction of a new building is necessary. This so-called energy centre is to be divided into three sections: in the northern section, the three heat pump systems are to be located, which are to exploit the heat potential of the brine water from deep geothermal drilling. The middle section is used to accommodate the transformer systems. In the southern section, a storage area is planned, which offers the potential and the necessary space for the construction and operation of another heat pump (for the use of the river water). Ammonia should be used as a refrigerant.
