The acquisition is necessary due to the obsolescence of the current equipment whose technical characteristics have been outdated and with limited support by the supply company, not ensuring the supply of spare parts or their repair in case of breakdown. Given the high use and demand of this equipment both internally and externally, its existence is considered essential under the umbrella of the Central Services, which already have staff for its management with extensive experience. The equipment to be purchased must be state-of-the-art, with significant improvements in technical characteristics, mainly in terms of its extraordinary sensitivity (100 times better than the equipment to be replaced), resolution and speed, which will allow the quantification of numerous compounds without compromising sensitivity. The equipment will be used by the technical staff of the LTI and will continue to provide analytical services and contribute new fields of action to the research groups of the ULE, to other public research centers and to companies, foundations and other institutions of a private nature with which the LTI already maintains Contracts for the Provision of Technical Services, these being a very important source of financing for the Service.
