The Ulm-Augsburg railway project (ULA) is part of the main route for Europe and is located in the Rhine-Danube corridor. In the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030 (BVWP), the project is classified as a priority. Due to the expansion of the Stuttgart-Ulm and Munich-Augsburg routes, an efficient expansion in this intermediate area is indispensable. The aim is therefore to build and expand the line between Ulm and Augsburg as a supplement to the 170-year-old, double-track and electrified existing line.
