Description

Restricted, anonymous competition following the 2008 RPW with a pre-candidate procedure for the selection of 20-25 participants. The aim of the competition is to select an architect and to obtain a suitable preliminary design for further processing.
The language of the case for the competition is German.
The so-called German House on the Ecke Stresemannstraße/Anhalterstraße, built around 1930 in Berlin and rebuilt in 1960 after war destruction, is to be rehabilitated and converted to accommodate a mix of uses from exhibitions and office days. The House of Germany is entered in the list of monuments. The interests of the protection of monuments must be taken into account.
The exhibition, documentation and information centre of the Foundation for Refugees, Displacement and Reconciliation is expected to have a useful floor area of approximately 3 300 m² on the ground floor up to 2. Upper floor.
The permanent exhibition focuses on depicting forced displacement and forced migration in the 20th century. Rooms for temporary exhibitions, events and a documentation centre are also foreseen.
Offices with a useful surface area of approx. 2 400 m² on the upper floors from the 3 rd are also to be provided. Upper floor. A detailed room programme is available.
At the same time, the much-needed basic repair of the building will be carried out.
The cost ceiling for the KG 300-500 is around EUR 25000000.
As part of the implementation competition, concepts must be developed for the design and functionally high-quality accommodation of the exhibition of the ‘Foundation Refugee, Displacement, Reconciliation’ and for a standard floor of office use within the German House.
