Description

The capacity expansion on the Zurich-Zug-Lucerne line decided in STEP AS 2035 requires extensive infrastructure expansion in order to remove this bottleneck. The most important element is the Zimmerberg Base Tunnel 2 between Thalwil and Litti. In addition, infrastructure expansions are needed at Baar, Baar Neufeld, Baar Lindenpark and Zug stations, as well as a third track between Baar and Zug. SBB has developed a preliminary project for the expansion between Baar and Zug. The integration of a third track requires the adaptation of the stations and stops on the affected section.
