The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is seeking to appoint a consultant architect and/or building surveying practice (‘Consultant’) to lead in the procurement and project management of a building conversion and refurbishment project to create suitable supported living accommodation to meet the needs of future service users. The Royal Borough wishes to convert and refurbish a leased property in London W11, which currently provides a home for 18 residents with learning disabilities. The property is to be converted to provide 11 or 12 self contained Supported Living Units for people with learning disabilities and/or complex physical needs. The property will be unoccupied during the construction works. However, the property forms part of a block of residential units, which will remain occupied during the construction period. The appointed Consultant will lead the procurement for the building works required; providing project management, structural engineering, mechanical, electrical and drainage engineering services, quantity surveying and CDM co-ordinator services. Interested Consultants will be required to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of developing supported living units and experience of working with an established Care Provider to obtain specialist advice for the design, fitting out and quality standards for the described user groups.
