The DSNA must offer airlines a service based on the exchange of data between pilots and air traffic controllers. Given the increasing volume of data exchange and the capacity limitations of the VDL Mode 2 infrastructure, it has become essential to provide this service using complementary telecommunications technology.The only technology standardised by ICAO to provide this service is the so-called ATN/SATCOM Class B satellite technology.
