Description

The purpose of this request for information is to clarify questions and costs related to the design and implementation of the Metal Age exhibition at the Oulu Museum and Science Centre. Interested operators in the field are invited to comment on the design, implementation and practical arrangements of the exhibition to be procured, so that the tender can be carried out in the most appropriate way. This document is not a contract notice or a call for tenders, but a more detailed market survey in accordance with section 65 of the Act on Public Contracts (1397/2016), i.e. a request for information as part of the preparation of the procurement. In November 2024, the Oulu Museum and Science Centre of the City of Oulu Education and Culture Services is planning a tender for the design (A) and implementation (B) of a thematic exhibition to be held in 2026. The exhibition is located in an exhibition centre called Tiima, which is under construction. According to the current estimate, the building will be completed in May 2026, when the exhibition can be built on site. With this schedule, the exhibition should be completed in its entirety in September 2026. On the basis of this request for information, the contracting entity aims to obtain additional information to carry out a competitive tendering for an exhibition related to metal/heavy music -Metal Period. Northern metal music from the 1980s to the present day visual and structural design and implementation. The size of the temporary exhibitions is 505 m2. The duration of the exhibition is planned to be approximately two years. The exhibition space is five meters high, open hall-like space, which is dark grey / black in general. The exhibition process is in the content planning phase. The thematic areas of the exhibition are already clear. The working group responsible for the design and scripting of the content consists of the staff of the Museum of Northern Ostrobothnia and Science Centre Tietomaa: curator and researcher (PPM) and exhibition technician (TT). A preliminary graphic design has already been made for the pre-marketing of the exhibition. The concept is that the visitor gets to experience a holistic, multisensory, visually impressive and experiential environment that reflects the original aesthetics of the heavy metal genre. The exhibition design should take into account the fact that museum objects and objects borrowed from private persons are also displayed. The procurement areas would include: 1)The general appearance of the space (exhibition architecture and design), the structures and display cases of the space, the graphical appearance of the exhibition surfaces (painting, taping, exhibition plans). Scenography design and furniture design/acquisition 2) Construction of the space according to the plans made. Implementation of construction.
