Description

1. Introduction:
Comprehensive data on the occurrence and dissemination of habitat types (LRTs) in Baden-Württemberg are required as part of the FFH reporting obligation. As most of the FFH-LRTs are also legally protected biotopes under § 30 BNatSchG, a link between the two surveys is carried out.
According to § 33 NatSchG, the registration of legally protected biotopes must be repeated at regular intervals.
2. Mapping of habitat types and legally protected biotopes:
— Mapping of all legally protected biotopes
— All mapped biotopes estimate of the area of habitat types under the Habitats Directive
— Area fly and with A, B, C-weighted recording of habitat type 6510 ‘Magere lowland hay meadows’ and 6520 ‘mountain hay meadows’ in a maximum of 2 ha in accordance with the MaP Manual
— Random survey of habitat type 3260 ‘Frivers from planar to montane level with Ranunculion fluitantis and Callitricho-Batrachion vegetation’
The mapping of FFH habitat types and legally protected biotopes is carried out in accordance with the Cartier Manual ‘FFH habitat types and biotope types Baden-Württemberg’ (in the current version, available at http://www.lubw.baden-wuerttemberg.de/servlet/is/11168/?shop=true), which includes both the technical mapping manual and the description of the biotope types under Section 30 of the BNatSchG, and with regard to the description and assessment of habitat types, in particular the FFH hay meadows, in accordance with the ‘Manual on drawing up management plans for Natura 2000 sites in Baden-Württemberg’ (in the current version, available at: http://www.lubw.baden-wuerttemberg.de/servlet/is/11169/ There are various tools to document FFH hay meadows, such as a checklist with drafting suggestions for the description of the survey unit and a refined cartoning methodology to supplement the MaP manual to be used in the survey (http://www.lubw.baden-wuerttemberg.de/servlet/is/13930/handbuch_erstellung_managementplaenen_anhang_xiv.pdf?command=downloadContent&filename=handbuch_erstellung_managementplaenen_anhang_xiv.pdf). In addition, rapid species images are carried out on representative areas of the observation unit.
Mapping on the site is carried out using ortho-air images with previously inserted plot data from the Automated Real Estate Card (ALK) and survey sheets provided.
