EU tender for the handling of slag from Nordværk Affaldsenergi A/S' energy plant in Hjørring
Nordværk Affaldsenergi A/S is responsible for the operation of energy plants in Hjørring and Aalborg. The energy plants produce slag in connection with the incineration of waste. In this connection, Nordværk Affaldsenergi needs to conclude a contract for the handling – in the form of transport, treatment and marketing – of this slag (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Contract’). The contract covers only the handling of the slag produced from the energy plant in Hjørring, as Nordværk has an existing agreement in respect of the slag produced from the energy plant in Aalborg. In continuation of the above, it should be noted that approximately 17,000 tonnes of slag are produced annually from the energy plant in Hjørring. However, this amount may vary upwards as well as downwards. The procurement of the Contract shall be carried out as an open procedure within the meaning of Directive 2014/02-26 of the European Parliament and of the Council on procurement by entities operating in the water, energy, transport and postal services sectors and repealing Directive 2004/17EC (hereinafter “the Utilities Directive”). The contract will enter into force on 1 May 2026 and will run until 31 December 2028. However, Nordværk Affaldsenergi A/S has the option of extending the Contract in two instalments of up to two years per extension. The contract will therefore expire on 31 December 2033 at the latest, subject to the full exercise of options. Extension will take place on unchanged terms.
