Germany-Munich: Architectural, engineering and planning services
The Bio Resources business line of the Fraunhofer Institute of Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology is dedicated to the development of organisms as a biological resource for new guiding structures and focuses on the development of innovative strategies for their application in medicine, plant protection or industrial biotechnology. Insect biotechnology, the current focus of the business area, is a young, globally prosperous discipline with high value-added potential. The unit currently housed at the Gießen Technology and Innovation Centre (TIG) has played a pioneering role in Germany.
Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft plans to further develop the ‘bio-resources’ business area at the Gießen site, requiring the construction of a new institute building, which is to be built on a plot of land of 21 000 m² as part of the ‘Technology and Business Park Leihgesterner Weg’ planning area.
In the new building, jobs will be created for approximately 100 employees who need office space and biochemical laboratory rooms at protection levels S1 to S3 under the BioStoffV for their work. The total usable areas of approximately 4 000 m² are as follows: NF1 stay 98 m²; NF2 Office work 1 155 m²; NF3 Labors 1 946 m²; NF4 Storage 564 m²; NF5 Meeting and conference 222 m²; NF6 Sanitary room 12 m².
The Fraunhofer Society attaches great importance to the implementation of an innovative and sustainable building and energy concept.
